Anyone who saw the Scott Kalitta crash video on ESPN would have been shocked and horrified as it was exactly like watching death in motion being replayed over and over again as Scott Kalitta was shown crashing his car in a flaming wreck in the crash video. The incredible thing was that ESPN chose to air it on national TV across the country and there must have been thousands who saw Scott Kalitta crash in the video and threw out their insides. It was truly horrifying to see the drag racing event end in such tragedy, as Scott Kalitta hurtled down the track during his qualifying round and no one really knows what went wrong but Scott Kalitta’s car simply start catching fire and when it finally crashed as shown in the crash video, there was an amazing burst of flames.

The Scott Kalitta crash video then showed the car burning and the staff stations for the Lucas Oil NHRA SuperNationals drag race could not put out the flames in time nor save the poor man from the wreckage. Everyone saw how he died in the Scott Kalitta crash video and one wonders who would have to take the blame now. Would it be the NHRA? Hard to say because the Scott Kalitta crash video also showed the car traveling at almost 300 miles an hour and that might have contributed to the car going up in flames. I don’t know. If you have never heard of Emile Norman, you would know him by now if you saw the documentary by Will Parrinello “Emile Norman: By His Own Design” on KCET at 10pm, and then you would have slapped your forehead and wondered why you never noticed that Emile Norman was the guy who made the mural in the Masonic Auditorium in San Francisco, known as the “endomosaic” mural. This mural made by him was a signature work of art, and Emile Norman used a mixture of sea shells, crushed glass and other substances with beautiful result. You wouldn’t be blamed for not knowing him though, as that is about the extent of his work in terms of being displayed in a largely public place for everyone to see.

Emile Norman was also a gay man who had to move his life elsewhere to the Big Sur in order to live it the way he wanted to, as during his younger days, homosexuality was still taboo compared to modern times, and it was not advisable for guys like Emile Norman to come out in the open. He did enjoy that comfort in the Big Sur though, and lived life together with his lover Brooks Clement. While the documentary did not exactly focus on Emile Norman’s homosexuality and gay life, there was enough material in it to provide quite a bit of coverage on the subject. Oprah once again talks about the Best Life Diet and how it changed her life so on and so forth but does it really work and deliver upon its promise? What is the Best Life Diet anyway? My understanding about it is not exactly complete but from what I have seen so far, it really involves various types of concepts from power snacking, eating the right portions right down to choosing the proper foods by scrutinizing food labels and understanding what they really mean. If this is what these weight loss plans that Oprah is promoting is all about, then are they not the same as most other diet plans that are being preached by other health experts or diet fans?

I am still having trouble getting to grips with how different the Best Life Diet is supposed to be compared to other methods that help you lose weight. Even more incredible concepts cropped up such as eating the Skinny Cow to help you achieve your aims of shedding extra pounds. The manufacturer of this product itself, Nestle, already gives me ideas in my mind about milk milk and more milk, which means more fat. Of course, some bodybuilders even promote gorging on fat to achieve weight loss. At least the power snacking bit from the Best Life Diet I can still grasp, as smaller meals spread throughout the day actually speeds up your metabolism supposedly, which then helps your body to burn fat more efficiently over time.

Another concept that is supposed to come with the Best Life Diet is that of consuming food in the right portions to prevent overeating or under-eating or simply to avoid the end result of getting fat. This is nothing new and certainly most people know that if you eat too much too often, you are more likely to put on the pounds compared to someone who consumes more rationally. Perhaps the reason for the Best Life Diet is that it promotes a healthier and more rational lifestyle, and not to indulge in excess which certainly contributes to weight gain in many people. There are less and less people who engage in enough physical activities everyday that will help get the internal bodily functions moving and become healthier.

Bo Diddley was announced dead at the ripe old age of 79 yesterday as the man who many believed to have given birth to the name “rock & roll” left behind a legacy of his own and a musical treasure that continues to be pillaged and reworked by many artists from across different genres. While the tributes have started to pour in, I have personally loved the music of Bo Diddley since I discovered the blues, and have aspired to play his work for years. There is a magical quality about the raw and sometimes primitive rhythmic thump of his blues, as well as the passion and power that begs to be released from both his voice and guitar.

While Bo Diddley might have died and left a void in the music world, he still has so much recorded material that continues to inspire other musicians. There can be no denying the fact that many of the world famous recording artists from the likes of Buddy Holly to the Rolling Stones, owe their fortune and success to Bo Diddley. Bo Diddley’s death can only spur on more young musicians to discover his work and perhaps bring even more exposure and cast greater limelight on him. This might have come too late now, and the revered blues musician did actually enjoy quite a high profile due to his appearances on some popular commercial marketing blitzes for mainstream products, but it will ensure that his memory lives on in many others and that his music continues to breathe a life of its own in his physical absence. Palm Bay Florida is again under attack by wildfires and the scene is of chaos and fiery ruins as local firefighters are banding together with resident in trying to keep the situation under control across Florida’s Atlantic coast. The wildfires have been burning in Palm Bay, Fla. for three days now and many homes have been damaged or destroyed by the situation. While the disaster is not of the scale of the Myanmar cyclone and China earthquake, it also affects many lives and livelihoods here in Palm Bay Florida so hopefully the firefighters and residents can find a way out of this and put out the raging wildfires. There might be more effort required as the weather in Palm Bay, Florida right now is not helping the situation and flare-ups are complicating the relief effort.

Investigation is still going on as to what caused the fires in Palm Bay Florida and initial theories point to possible arson. Someone saw someone throw something out of a car onto an open dry field which then caused the area to burst up in flames and Charlie Crist had no choice but to declare a state of emergency yesterday with the situation quickly escalating out of control. Many residents in Palm Bay Florida are feeling lost as their homes have been destroyed, and a sense of frustration and futileness is in the air, which could quickly turn to despair and anger if the fires in Palm Bay Florida are not put out soon enough.
